EURegionsTalk: Empowering local communities to engage in energy transition
As renewable energy production grows, so does the potential of prosumers: citizens who both produce and consume energy. Drawing on the Interreg NWE cVPP project, Anna J Wieczorek will present how community-based virtual power plants (cVPPs) can speed up the energy transition to a sustainable and just future. This social and technical innovation was developed and tested in 3 communities in Ireland, the Netherlands and Belgium, and 9 other communities were supported in developing their own cVPP in the capitalisation phase of the project. Discover how a group of actively involved citizens can work together to generate clean energy consumed, stored and sold locally.

EURegionsTalk: Soil, carbon, action: Supporting farmers towards a sustainable agriculture
Agriculture, which employs 8.7 million people and spans nearly half of EU land, currently faces numerous environmental, climate-related and financial challenges. One of the most pressing ones is the degradation of soils due to common farming practices, prompting an urgent need to promote healthier and regenerative approaches. Multitel, coordinator of the Interreg NWE Smart Carbon Farming project, will present how this transnational initiative helps farmers regenerate soil, cut greenhouse gas emissions, and preserve revenues. With 15 pilot farms, it shows how tailored carbon monitoring and management systems adapted to regional conditions can promote a resilient agriculture.
Tuesday 14 and Wednesday 15, from 9:30 to 18:00 CET.
