OPIN Masterclass: Multi-source energy parks: potential, risks and policy requirements

Online, 09:00-10:00 (BST) / 10:00:11:00 (CEST)

8 February 2022

In this OPIN Masterclass we discuss the possibilities and challenges of combining multiple renewable energy generation technologies in one offshore park. This includes regulatory, technical and financial challenges. A particular focus will be on policy requirements and challenges.

The masterclass is based on early lessons learned during the European Scalable Offshore Renewable Energy Sources (EU-SCORES) project. EU-SCORES will pave the way for bankable multi-source offshore parks across Europe by 2025 and unlock the large-scale potential of wind, wave and offshore solar systems."

The presenters will share information on the EU-SCORES project, the situation for Dutch and Belgian wind parks (i.e. steps for installing a wind park),  infrastructure needs for installing other sources etc, permitting process for offshore renewables in Belgium based on the experience with the Belgian test site.

Agenda:

10:00 - 10:05 Introduction OPIN

10:05 - 10:25 Presentation by Benjamin Lehner (Dutch Marine Energy Centre):

  • Regulatory, technical, financial and policy requirements and challenges for an offshore park in which multiple renewable energy generation technologies are combined - EU-SCORES
  • Steps for installing a wind park and the infrastructure needs for installing other renewable energy sources (in NL)

10:25 - 10:45 Presentation by Tom Baur (POM West-Vlaanderen):
