eHUBS Academy is a space for cities and regions across Europe to learn and exchange knowledge on all aspects related to ๐๐ฅ๐๐๐ญ๐ซ๐ข๐ ๐ฌ๐ก๐๐ซ๐๐ ๐ฆ๐จ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐ก๐ฎ๐๐ฌ.
This years' academy took place on ๐๐ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ ๐๐จ๐ฏ๐๐ฆ๐๐๐ซ ๐ข๐ง ๐๐๐ฎ๐ฏ๐๐ง ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐๐ฅ๐ฌ, ๐๐๐ฅ๐ ๐ข๐ฎ๐ฆ, back-to-back with the ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐จ๐ง๐๐๐ซ๐๐ง๐๐. Representatives of a varied group of cities and regions across Europe, including Madrid, Munich, Sofia, Lisbon, Stockholm, Rome, amongst others, ย came to Leuven to learn and exchange knowledge on electric shared mobility hubs.
Both days were full of interesting lectures, discussions and networking opportunities. Participants could join a guided tour to some of the mobility hubs in Leuven and to visit the commune of Anderlecht in the Brussels capital region as well, where they saw Anderlechtโs most recent eHUBS innovations focusing on the transition to shared, inclusive, sustainable mobility through hubs.
Why Leuven? With 40 mobility hubs, Leuven is a pioneer and an example city of shared mobility and mobility hubs.
Why Brussels? Being the capital of Europe, this city is surrounded by the most pro-active eHUBS pioneer cities and gathers mobility professional all over Europe and above.
Day one took place at the heart of Leuven in the cityโs Gothic Hall. This day included several presentation rounds focused on eHUBSโ success experiences and the future of eHUBS, and a panel discussion on eHUBS business models between cities and operators. The day ended with a by a bike tour through Leuvenโs mobility hubs. A special thanks to speakers Joachim Jacob, Aleksander Lannoy, Jaron Borensztajn, Nick Van den Eynde, Steve Van Avermaet, Martin Lefrancq, Hilke Evenepoel and Gemma Schepers for providing interesting insights on the different tipics addressed.
To participating operatorsโ panellists from Partago, Donkey Republic, Cargoroo, Poppy Mobility and GreenMobility A/S and participating cities, such as, Rome, Munich, Madrid and Sofia, who exchanged their views on the role of mobility hubs in their business model and highlighted how operators can contribute to the ambition cities have and their experiences on MaaS.
On day two the academy continued in Brussels at The EGG conference venue, home of the 2022 POLISย Conference, with several presentation rounds coordinated by eHUBS project partners Autodelen.net and Mpact in collaboration with the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). Highlights on day two included an interactive session on shared mobility frameworks hosted by Suzanne Ryvers and Bram Seeuws of Autodelen.net. Some of the most discussed topics and opinions on shared mobility, such as, โshould the government regulate shared mobility and if so, what is the best policy level (local, national, EU)?โ And โshould shared mobility be treated the same as private vehicles?โ, etc., were extensively debated. The answers and discussions showed varied views and approaches among the cities, regions, and operators and.
After the final round of presentations, most of the attendees continued their mobility journey at the 2022 POLIS Conference. The program ended with remaining participants joining a site visit to the Anderlecht commune in the Brussels capital region to get to know eHUBS best practices and innovative mobility hubs in Brussels.
