Role of NUIG is to establish the scientific basis for the design of CW dowel-laminated beams manufactured using different wood species and dowel arrangements through laboratory testing. NUIG brings expertise in material characterisation of timber and engineered wood products, analysis and design of timber structures and structural testing of timber elements. Laboratories facilities include climate control rooms, drying ovens, pressure chambers, and facilities for full scale mechanical testing.
