Multimodal Urban Day - Liège

Demonstration of the Zulu and the FlexiMalle: a river response for urban logistics.
"The urban distribution tool of tomorrow", is how Blue Line Logistics, a subsidiary of the French shipowner Sogestran, presented its latest innovation in river handling
and urban logistics.

The Autonomous Port of Liège and Euroports Inland Terminals organized a
demonstration of these innovative river solutions with the operator for the Port's stakeholders, shippers and public partners.

The Zulu, designed by Blue Line Logistics, is a small barge (50m x 6.6m) equipped with an on-board crane making it possible to load and unload up to 300 tonnes of goods, making its use particularly suitable for transporting goods to cities.

The demonstration showed the ease of unloading pallets and picking them up for loading at the quayside by Rayon9. Rayon9 is a Liège-based company specializing in the urban transport of goods by cargo bike.

Participants in the event were able to observe the handling of the FlexiMalle, developed by Sogestran, which is a new lightweight, standardized and foldable container (20 or 40 feet) meeting the massification needs of freight flows and reduced transshipment costs.

The event was a great success and brought together nearly forty representatives mainly from from the economic and logistics world.
