Farmers Attitudes to RDF Sources Discussed at the Civil Engineering Research in Ireland Conference (CERI2020)

The ReNu2Farm paper presented at the conference focused on the farmers’ attitudes to RDF sources. From the analysis of the farmers’ survey, respondents in Ireland are more willing to accept RDFs from household food waste and sewage sludge compared to those in NW Europe. While those in Ireland and NW Europe are equally willing to utilise RDFs from sources such as animal waste and food industry waste. However, participants in Ireland have not heard of RDF products, as much as their NW Europe counterparts. The reasons behind these results were discussed and explained in the presentation and the peer-reviewed conference paper (see link). As part of the questions and answers session after the presentation, why there is such a low uptake of these products from recycled sources in Ireland and the willingness of those in Ireland to use RDFs was further discussed with the audience.
