Congratulations to Amazec Photonics for obtaining an Interreg OIP4NWE voucher


Congratulations to Amazec Photonics for obtaining an Interreg OIP4NWE voucher for up to € 50.000,- innovation support. They will use the support fund to further develop their technology to make reliable measurement of cardiovascular parameters minimally invasive - thus from outside the body. 

 

How do they do this?

In current practices, the monitor cardiovascular function in patients is measured by injecting a cold fluid and measuring the temperature with a catheter inserted into the body. Amazec Photonics developed a fiber optic sensing technology with photonic chips  that enables high-resolution temperature sensing (fractions of 0.1 milliKelvin) without having to inject the temperature sensor within the body. Sounds great right? 
 
But that's not all! In addition to that, they also discovered that this technology enables medical specialists to easily measure the circulating blood volume. A piece of information that doctors craved to have easy access to for decades.

About the pilot line

OIP4NWE is the Open Innovation Pilot line for North-West Europe. They are handing out innovation vouchers  for design verification or manufacturing of InP photonic chips. With the design verification it’s possible to check the compatibility of a PIC design with the OIP4NWE pilot line.
