The VG-Birkenfeld (VG=Verbandsgemeinde, association of municipalities) is the administration which is responsible for the community of Gimbweiler. VG-Birkenfeld acts in place of Gimbweiler and its mayor Mr. Martin Samson. VG-Birkenfeld provides for the workforce to manage and develop the project, and sustain the community mayor implementing a DHES. Birkenfeld works closely together with IfaS. The latter will take responsibility for some of the pilot tasks, which is reflected in the budget
