From September 28 till October 1, the Sustainable Places conference gathered over 150 European projects representing €850 million in R&D and 1500 research performing organizations. This year’s edition was a hybrid event, with the possibility to attend physically in the Roma Convention Center in Rome, Italy, or to join virtually.
ENERGE co-organised and participated in the “Energy Citizenship in new energy concepts” workshop. The workshop addressed questions around energy citizenship like:
- How can energy citizenship in new energy concepts reduce GHG emissions towards climate neutral cities?
- What kind of citizenship has the most impact?
- Best ways to promote energy citizenship?
Representatives from five EU projects presented different tools and approaches of how to involve citizens in a smart city community when deploying innovative energy concepts like Positive Energy Districts. Natalia Romero (TU-Delft) presented ongoing work from the ENERGE project. An important piece of work presented were the archetypes discovered during working with the teachers and students in the demonstration schools. Recognising the needs of the various archetypes allows the project to design the ENERGE Platform in such a way that it attracts passive and active, as well as conventional-minded and independent-minded teachers and students in a positive manner. This way impact on energy reduction, building comfort and energy literacy will be maximised and sustained in long-term values.
