“The first Reuse Innovation Hub, organised in the framework of the Digital Deconstruction project by the French partners of the programme, took place on Tuesday 16 November 2021.
This event brought together some thirty players in the construction and deconstruction sectors around the same ambition: to exchange ideas in order to increase the use of reuse of materials from deconstruction sites.
During this morning, the participants were able to attend the strong, ambitious and committed speeches of Sébastien Delpont, consulting director at Greenflex and Philippe Bihouix, general manager of AREP. A presentation of the Digital Deconstruction programme was then given, detailing the ambitions of the project and its current state of play, as well as the objectives that the French partners of the programme have set for the future Reuse Innovation Hubs that will take place during 2022.
Another highlight of the morning was the presentations given by Vilogia, AREP and SNCF Gares et Connexions on their reuse strategy and their ambitions in this area. By presenting the reuse strategies applied to their buildings, pilot sites of the DDC programme, the companies were able to address in a more concrete way the difficulties and opportunities encountered in the planning of their building sites, both scheduled for 2022.
A presentation of the different steps carried out with the DDC tools (3D scan, R-BIM modelisation) allowed the participants to better understand the tools and their contributions.
After these various presentations, the participants were invited to take part in workshops on reuse and digital tools. An explanation and demonstration by Jean-Yves Marié, CEO of BIM-Y and partner of the Digital Deconstruction programme, of his 3D scanning tool was given, followed by a discussion on the needs of the actors in digital tools. At the same time, a workshop on the ambition to reach 20% of reuse by 2030 on deconstruction sites allowed the players to discuss the obstacles encountered and the levers to be activated to reach this objective.
With this first edition of the Recycling Innovation Hubs, the programme's partners have gained a better understanding of each other's issues and needs. The discussions will continue in the beginning of 2022, with a focus on the levers needed to trigger supply and demand.”
