Publication on VSM at the 9th International Conference on Mass Customization and Personalization – Community of Europe in Novi Sad, Serbia

Value Stream Management (VSM) method is an effective tool for the collection, evaluation and continuous improvement of product and information flows within organizations. In the latest publication from the University of Luxembourg, one of the project partners of Di-Plast, the VSM method was used to help companies to visualize and analyze the internal information and herewith optimize their processes. As part of the Di-Plast project, VSM will be available as a digital tool within the toolkit. The application of VSM leads to an identification of waste and helps to visualize the bottlenecks within process flows.. Currently, the VSM tool is further refined within the pilot phase to customize the methodology of VSM to the needs of the target group (plastic industry/ recycling) of the project.

The University of Luxembourg, one of our project partner, just published an introducing article on VSM at the 9th International Conference on Mass Customization an Personalization – Community of Europe in Novi Sad, Serbia. At the conference, experts in the field of mass customization from all over the world meet at this conference to present and discuss the latest research results from this area. With regard to circular economy, it will be interesting to see how the individualization of products, so the mass customization, and the later uptake and reuse of resources can be combined.  The article describes the basic principles of VSM and explains the approach of deployment of VSM.. The applicability of this new method is proven by a case study within a company, use to visualize their complete internal information flow.
