The mission of Mijnwater is the “initiating, stimulating, & implementing of renewable energy facilities to be used for the heating & cooling of buildings”. It was established to serve public interests, e.g. to facilitate energy transition, to reduce GHG emissions, & to promote sustainable heating & cooling in the city of Heerlen & the wider Parkstad Limburg region. It pioneered 5GDHC during the development of a low-energy DHC system that harvests geothermal energy from old mineshafts.
- Low carbon
D2Grids - Increasing the share of renewable energy by accelerating the roll-out of demand-driven smart grids delivering low temperature heating and cooling to NWE cities
To facilitate the uptake of low carbon technologies, products, processes and services in sectors with high energy saving potential, to reduce GHG emissions in NWE
