BRGM is France’s reference public institution for Earth Science applications in the management of surface & subsurface resources & risks. It has five key roles: first, conducting scientific research focused on furthering geological knowledge & understanding of surface & subsurface phenomena; second, supporting public policy development; third, cooperating internationally; fourth, ensuring mine safety in France; & fifth, supporting higher education training programmes in the geosciences.
