3rd project meeting in Brest

Brest, France

16 May 2022 - 17 May 2022

The 3rd CAN SME project meeting took place on 16 and 17 May in sunny Brest. After one year of digital meetings, the CAN partnership finally met for two days of intense and inspiring exchanges.

Beside internal discussions on projects objectives, the group had the chance to visit retrofitting works on a housing building in the neighbourhood of Recouvrance. The building was bought by the city from different parties and is being restructured from 25 small apartments to 12 apartments of different size for tenants with mixed incomes. Thanks the retrofitting works, the living conditions and energy standards will be improved to a great extent and the historical heritage of the building will be preserved.

During the Working Group meeting, the partners had the opportunity to try out diverse communication tools of Brest metropole developed together with the local energy and climate agency Ener’gence. These collective animations are targeted to employees as well as owners of small and medium-sized businesses. The main purpose of them is to increase awareness on energy saving.

Another highlight of the meeting was the participation of a local SME named Rubalise, an association which supports social and professional rehabilitation of unemployed people. Rubalise´s representatives shared their experiences on participating in CAN SME activities proposed by Brest metropole. It was a nice opportunity to raise awareness about energy saving and the reduction of energy bills.

Now the partnership looks forward to meet again in September in Kilkenny, Ireland.
