During this seminar an algorithm that was developed to trace hydrography and sewage networks was demonstrated to regional government organizations, SME’s working in spatial data development, knowledge centers, etc. This algorithm will serve as a base model for one of the challenges of the Flanders Environment Agency.
After a session of plenary presentations about the BE-GOOD project and about INSPIRE, which provides a regulatory governance framework for spatial data in the EU, a demo of the tracing algorithm was shown to the audience.
To finalize the workshop all of the participants were divided into three groups and were invited to a brainstorm session about possible extensions or other uses for the algorithm. The many ideas that were suggested surpassed the expectations. In the following months decisions have to be made about which ideas can be developed into a proof of concept.
