The Algae-UK ‘Festival of Algae’ reunites researchers to explore the potential of algae

Algae-UK, Birmingham

17 November 2021 - 18 November 2021

Last week, a face to face event organised by Algae-UK, the Festival of Algae, was held in Birmingham, UK. This event reunited the UK algal community, who dedicate their time to exploring the potential of algae.

The event was very well organised and included talks by some of the top UK researchers in the file, as well as an exhibition and creative workshops with artists. The ALG-UK project was represented in both sections, with a talk by Professor Carole Llewellyn, and also attended by Project Manager Louise Hall and Professor Lynsey Melville, who spent time sharing information about the Decision Support Tools.

As well as hearing about the work of the research community, it was great to also catch up with some previous ALG-AD colleagues; Ellie Wood, who is now working at SAMS, Scotland and Valeria Candelo, a technician at Algaecytes, who were also presenting work at the conference

The ALG-AD team would like to thank the organisers for such a positive event, where we had some great conversations with students and researchers interested in our work.
