Sint-Niklaas (75,000 inhabitants) aims to reduce CO2 with minimum 20% by 2020 (compared to 1994) and to be climate neutral by 2050 and have signed the ‘Covenant of Mayors’. Within this action plan, energy efficient public lighting is a very important aspect. Since many years, their policy is aimed at sustainable lighting, and therefore they work together with distribution system operator (Eandis) and manufacturers of lighting equipment.
