From 27-28 November 2017, the General Assembly of the SeRaMCo project took place in Liège, Belgium. More than thirty partners from five different NWE-regions as well as seven members of the advisory board gathered during this two-day event to discuss SeRaMCo’s progress since its launch in 6 months ago.
On the first day, the SeRaMCo partners presented the project’s progress to the Advisory Board. After a warm welcome by the University of Liège (the hosting partner), the University of Kaiserslautern (the lead partner) presented the status quo of SeRaMCo. Next, Schuttelaar & Partners, who’s responsible for the communication and commercialization of SeRaMCo, presented the communication tools (including flyer, website and social media accounts) and the first results of the market analysis. Finally, the University of Liège presented the findings of their study on best practices for material treatment. In response, the advisory board, who represents experts from along the construction material value chain, valuable input that will help the project partners to further finetune and define the next steps in the project. We look forward to presenting to the Advisory Board more results in 2018!
In the afternoon, all partners were invited to participate in site visits to see how the recycling of Construction & Demolition Waste works in practice. First, the group visited the RECYNAM in Lives-sur-Meuse, a recycling plant of Tradecowall. Following this, the group continued the trip to a factory of PREFER in Flémalle, where a variety of concrete precast products are produced.
On the second day, all partners participated in round table discussions aiming to align activities within and between the different work packages. This resulted in relevant and interactive debates on, for example, the need for political action to develop the market for secondary aggregates or the most innovative ideas for new precast products. The day was concluded with a visit to the Building Materials Laboratory of the University of Liège.
