The deadline for submitting applications for the 2012 RegioStars Awards was 15 July 2011. The European Commission has received a record number of 107 applications. An independent Jury will select a list of finalists, who will be invited to present their projects in January 2012. The Jury's decision on the award winners will be announced in June 2012 at the Regions for Economic Change conference.
The Strategic Initiative Cluster, SIC adapt! has been nominated as one of the finalists. This IVB NWE cluster is dealing with adaptation to the spatial impacts of climate change. Eight approved transnational projects originating from seven Member States of the NWE Programme with around 100 partner organisations are involved joining public authorities from all levels, scientific institutions, non profit and private organisations. They all deal with the effects of climate change, possible adaptation strategies and look for sustainable, cost-efficient, good-practice solutions in the four main sectors: urban areas; water / river / coasts; nature / forest / agriculture; social aspects.
