Addressing vulnerability to climate change events

Climate change is going to have significant impacts on North-West Europe’s dense infrastructure and urban areas, especially for those located near to coasts and rivers. Changes in weather patterns are likely to lead to increases in flooding, droughts, and forest fires. Airborne and waterborne pollution respect no boundaries. Areas with the greatest concentrations of urban and industrial development are going to be particularly vulnerable. Reducing the risk to North-West Europe from climate change by implementing climate change mitigation solutions is therefore a key challenge.
